Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Chicken Cutlets made with tender chicken breasts coated in seasoned breadcrumbs. This quick and easy recipe ensures a golden-brown crust with minimal oil, perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 2 chicken breasts, thinly sliced into 3 cutlets each

Breading

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs (see notes for seasoning mix)
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken: Pat the chicken cutlets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly on both sides of each cutlet to season.
  2. Set Up Breading Station: In a small bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth and well beaten. Place the flour in a separate shallow bowl and the seasoned breadcrumbs in another bowl to create a breading station for easy dipping.
  3. Bread the Chicken: Dip each chicken cutlet into the flour first, shaking off any excess. Then dip into the beaten eggs, ensuring all sides are coated. Finally, press the chicken into the breadcrumbs gently to form an even coating. Lay the breaded cutlets onto a baking sheet while preparing the air fryer.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C) to ensure even cooking and a crispy crust.
  5. Air Fry First Side: Place the chicken cutlets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd. Lightly spray each cutlet with cooking oil. Cook for 5 minutes to start crisping the first side.
  6. Flip and Air Fry Second Side: Flip the cutlets over and spray the other side with cooking oil. Continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes or until the cutlets are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the chicken cutlets from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes to retain juiciness. Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • The nutrition values are estimates; actual values may vary since not all breadcrumbs and flour are consumed.
  • To make your own seasoned breadcrumbs, combine regular or panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Storage: Cool the chicken cutlets completely before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
  • Freezing: Wrap each cutlet individually in freezer paper or plastic wrap, then place them together in a freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
