- Prepare the garlic: Cut off the top of each head of garlic just enough to expose the cloves slightly while keeping them connected. This allows the garlic to roast evenly and the flavor to intensify.
- Wrap and oil: Place each garlic head on a square of aluminum foil. Drizzle about 1 teaspoon of olive oil over the exposed cloves on each head to keep them moist and help achieve golden roasting.
- Air fry: Wrap the foil securely around the garlic heads and place them inside the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) and roast the garlic for 25 minutes, allowing the cloves to soften and develop a sweet, mellow flavor.
- Cool down: After cooking, leave the garlic inside the air fryer for an additional 5 to 10 minutes with the door closed. This prevents the garlic from cooling too quickly and avoids burning your fingers when handling.
- Extract the cloves: Once cool enough to handle, either squeeze the softened garlic cloves out of their skins directly or use a knife or small spoon to scoop them out gently for use in recipes.
- Store or use: Use the roasted garlic immediately in your favorite dishes or refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze the cloves in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to six months.
