Description

This Crockpot Italian Beef Sandwich recipe delivers tender, flavorful shredded beef seasoned with zesty Italian spices, slow-cooked to perfection and served on toasted hoagie rolls with your choice of cheese. Perfect for an easy weeknight meal or game day feast.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Seasoning

  • 34 lb chuck roast
  • 2 packets zesty Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water

Bread and Cheese

  • Hoagie rolls, toasted
  • Cheese of choice (such as provolone, mozzarella, or cheddar)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat: Rinse the chuck roast under cold water and pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  2. Season the Meat: Sprinkle both sides of the roast generously with the two packets of zesty Italian seasoning, ensuring even coverage for maximum flavor.
  3. Slow Cook: Place the seasoned roast into the slow cooker and pour 1/2 cup of water around it. Cover and cook on high for 6 hours or on low for 12 hours until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Shred the Meat: Remove the cooked roast from the slow cooker and use two forks to pull the beef apart into shreds.
  5. Assemble the Sandwich: Toast the hoagie rolls lightly, then pile on the shredded Italian beef. Add slices of your preferred cheese and serve immediately while warm and melty.

Notes

  • For a more flavorful sandwich, cook the meat on low for 12 hours to allow the seasonings to deeply penetrate.
  • You can add giardiniera or pickled peppers for a spicy kick.
  • Leftover beef can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
  • If you prefer, broil the assembled sandwich briefly to melt the cheese perfectly.
