Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 48–60 frozen tater tots (16-oz bag)
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- ½ cup sour cream
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 green onions, sliced (green part only)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Muffin Pan: Preheat oven to 450ºF and spray the cups of a muffin pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Arrange Tater Tots: For a mini-sized muffin pan, place 2-3 tater tots in each cup; for a regular sized muffin pan, place 4-5 tots per cup to form the base of the potato cups.
- Bake Initial Layer: Place muffin pan on the bottom rack of the oven and bake for 10 minutes to begin cooking and softening the tater tots.
- Shape Tater Tot Cups: Remove pan from oven and spray the bottom of a shot glass or small juice glass with cooking spray. Use the glass to press and twist the tots in each muffin cup upward and inward to form a cup shape close to the top rim of the muffin tin.
- Bake to Crisp: Return the shaped tater tot cups to the oven and bake an additional 15 minutes or until they turn deep golden brown and are crispy.
- Add Cheese and Melt: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese into each potato cup, then bake for 4-5 more minutes until the cheese melts thoroughly.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the baked tater tot cups to a platter, let cool for 5 minutes, then top each with sour cream, crumbled bacon, and sliced green onions. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Storing Instructions: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer at 350ºF for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.
- Make Ahead Instructions: Prepare through the shaping step (steps 1-5) and refrigerate. Before serving, cover the muffin tin with foil and bake at 400ºF for 10 minutes or until crispy and golden. Then add toppings as in step 6.
