Scale
Praline Topping
- 1 1/4 cups pretzels, roughly chopped
- 3/4 cup pecans, chopped
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Salad Base
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 container (8 oz) Cool Whip
- 4 to 5 cups strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F to prepare for the praline topping baking.
- Prepare Praline Topping: In a medium bowl, combine the roughly chopped pretzels, chopped pecans, melted butter, and brown sugar. Mix thoroughly to coat all ingredients evenly.
- Bake Praline Mixture: Spread the praline mixture evenly over a large cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a Silpat liner. Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 9 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. Once baked, remove from oven and allow to cool completely. You may refrigerate it to speed up the cooling process.
- Break into Pieces: After cooling, break the praline mixture into chunks or pieces and set aside.
- Mix Salad Base: In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to blend the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is fluffy and smooth.
- Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the Cool Whip into the cream cheese mixture until combined. Cover and refrigerate to chill until ready to use.
- Combine Salad: Just before serving, gently fold in the sliced strawberries and the praline topping pieces, reserving some praline topping to sprinkle on top for garnish.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the Creamy Strawberry Praline Salad right away for the best flavor and texture. This salad is best enjoyed the same day it is made.
Notes
- The recipe calls for 4 to 5 cups of sliced strawberries; feel free to use the full 5 heaping cups if you prefer a fruitier salad.
- To speed up cooling of the praline topping after baking, place it in the refrigerator.
- Ensure the praline topping is fully cooled before breaking it into chunks to prevent it from becoming soggy.
- This salad is best served the day it is prepared to maintain the freshness of the strawberries and the crunch of the praline.
