Description
A flavorful and vibrant Tomato Basil Shrimp Pasta recipe featuring succulent shrimp simmered in a garlic, cherry tomato, and white wine sauce, tossed with al dente spaghetti and fresh basil for a quick and delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 8 oz spaghetti
Shrimp Sauce
- 4 tbsp butter
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and tails removed
- 1/4 cup packed fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Extra basil and parmesan cheese for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of heavily salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until it reaches al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare Sauce Base: While the pasta cooks, heat a large sauté pan over medium heat and add the butter. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, making sure not to burn the garlic.
- Cook Tomatoes: Add the cherry tomatoes, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the tomatoes to soften and release their juices.
- Simmer with Wine: Pour in the dry white wine and simmer the mixture for another 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly and blend the flavors.
- Cook the Shrimp: Place the peeled shrimp into the sauce, submerging them completely. Simmer until the shrimp turn opaque and are cooked through, flipping once, which should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Toss Pasta with Sauce: Add the cooked spaghetti and chopped basil to the pan. Toss everything together gently, coating the pasta evenly with the sauce and distributing the shrimp and tomatoes throughout.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the pasta to serving plates and garnish with extra fresh basil leaves and parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio for best flavor.
- You can substitute linguine or fettuccine for spaghetti if preferred.
- To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free pasta.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to taste based on your preferred spice level.
- Fresh basil adds brightness; avoid using dried basil for this recipe.
- For a creamier sauce, add a splash of heavy cream after adding the wine.
