Description

These Nutella Stuffed Biscuit Doughnuts are a quick and delicious treat made from flaky biscuit dough filled with creamy Nutella chocolate spread, fried to golden perfection, and coated in cinnamon sugar for a sweet, crunchy finish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Coating

  • ¼ cup cinnamon
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

For the Doughnuts

  • 1 can biscuit dough (such as Grands! Flaky Layers Original Biscuits)
  • ¾ cup Nutella
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: Combine the cinnamon and granulated sugar in a shallow bowl and set aside for coating later.
  2. Flatten Dough: Working one at a time, use a rolling pin to flatten each piece of biscuit dough into a disc approximately ¼-inch thick. Repeat this until all dough pieces are flattened.
  3. Add Nutella Filling: Spoon a dollop of Nutella into the center of half of the dough discs.
  4. Seal Doughnuts: Place a plain dough disc over each Nutella-topped disc. Pinch the edges firmly with your fingers to seal the Nutella filling inside completely.
  5. Heat Oil: In a large pot, heat enough vegetable oil to submerge the doughnuts to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175°C).
  6. Fry Doughnuts: Carefully place the sealed biscuit doughnuts into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.
  7. Drain and Coat: Remove the doughnuts from the oil and set them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still warm, roll each doughnut in the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Serve and Store: Enjoy the doughnuts warm. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • Make sure to fry the biscuit doughnuts long enough to avoid raw or doughy centers.
  • If they are undercooked, preheat your oven to 350°F, place the doughnuts on a greased baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Use a candy or deep-fry thermometer to ensure oil temperature is consistent at 350°F for best results.
  • Serve fresh and warm for optimal taste and texture.
